To address a broad interpretation of “Shell and Spatial Structures” the Sixth Conference included presentations regarding computation for any long-span, lightweight, fabric, or thin-walled structures:
· at a variety of scales -- spanning nano to mega,
· in a diversity of application fields, and
· in both technology and nature.
In addition, the themes of the conference sessions included most of those addressed at the Fifth Conference but with new emphasis on the related areas of
· computational morphogenesis,
· computational materials,
· innovative materials,
· biological structures, and
· nano- and micro-structures.
See the links below for more information regarding the objectives, themes, and fields as well as the background of previous conferences in this series. The Sixth Conference was held on the campus of Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, USA on 28-31 May 2008.
